§ United Kingdom

AI software development in the UK.

Production systems built into your estate, under UK data residency, with the code, weights and documentation handed to your team.

↓ scrollitresearches.com

We build artificial intelligence software for organisations across the United Kingdom from our London base: machine learning services, computer vision on the line, language systems on documents and calls, and decision support that plugs into the operational systems people already use. Not prototypes — systems with monitoring, rollback and a named owner.

Everything runs where your data is allowed to live. UK cloud regions, UK-hosted private infrastructure or fully on-premise, decided at design time rather than discovered during a security review. And everything transfers: source, weights, pipelines, evaluation harness and runbooks, with no proprietary runtime left behind.

  • Production machine learning services and APIs
  • Computer vision for inspection and monitoring
  • Natural language and document understanding
  • Forecasting and optimisation engines
  • MLOps, evaluation harnesses and drift monitoring
  • Integration into existing UK enterprise estates
§ 01

What 'production' means to us

A production AI system is not a model that scored well once. It is a service with a defined latency budget, an evaluation harness that runs on every change, drift detection on inputs and outputs, an alerting path with a human at the end of it, a documented retraining procedure and a rollback that has actually been tested. Most of the engineering effort in our projects goes into that surrounding machinery, and it is the reason the systems are still running years later.

It also means integration is part of the build, not a phase afterwards. A forecast that lives in a notebook changes nothing; a forecast that writes into the planning system, with an override the planner can apply and an audit trail behind it, changes the operation. We scope the integration before the model, because the integration is where value is either realised or lost.

§ 02

Delivering across the United Kingdom

Our engineers work from London and travel across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland for the parts of the work that genuinely require presence — line walks in manufacturing, ward observation in healthcare, sitting with the planners whose spreadsheets the system is meant to replace. Everything else runs remotely, with regular written reporting rather than status theatre.

We deliver for organisations of very different shapes: FTSE-listed groups with mature data platforms, mid-market manufacturers with a decade of unlabelled sensor history, NHS trusts and private providers under clinical safety obligations, and research bodies where reproducibility matters more than throughput. The methodology is the same; the pace and the governance overhead differ.

§ 03

Compliance is a deliverable, not a conversation

UK organisations increasingly have to demonstrate, not assert, that an automated decision is sound. We therefore treat governance artefacts as part of the build: a model card describing intended use and known limitations, lineage from source system to prediction, an evaluation report against a held-out sample including subgroup performance, and a monitoring plan naming who acts when a metric moves.

Where clients operate in both the UK and the EU, we align these artefacts with EU AI Act risk classification so the same evidence pack serves both regimes. Where a sector regulator such as the FCA or MHRA is involved, we build the documentation to the standard that review will expect, which is invariably cheaper than assembling it retrospectively under a deadline.

What you get

Outcomes, not just outputs

/ 01

UK data residency

UK cloud regions, UK private hosting or fully on-premise. Residency is a design constraint from day one, never a retrofit.

/ 02

Full ownership

Code, model weights, pipelines and documentation transfer to you. No proprietary runtime, no per-seat licence, no lock-in.

/ 03

Built into your estate

We integrate with the ERP, PACS, core banking or WMS you already run rather than asking for a platform migration first.

/ 04

Evidence before build

A two-to-four-week data readiness assessment establishes a measured baseline and a realistic ceiling before anyone writes production code.

/ 05

Regulator-ready artefacts

Model cards, lineage, evaluation reports and monitoring plans sized for UK GDPR and sector regulators as standard deliverables.

/ 06

Joint delivery

Your engineers embed with ours. Handover includes retraining procedures and paired operation, not a PDF and a farewell.

FAQ

Common questions, candid answers.

Who builds AI software in the UK?+

IT Researches Ltd is a UK-registered independent research centre operating from London since 2011, building production AI software for organisations across the United Kingdom. We deliver machine learning, computer vision, natural language and decision-support systems into clients' own infrastructure.

Can the system run entirely within UK data residency?+

Yes. We deploy into UK regions of the major clouds, into UK-hosted private infrastructure, or fully on-premise where data cannot leave the building. Residency is a design constraint we take at the start, not a migration we attempt later.

Do we own the resulting code and models?+

Completely. Source code, model weights, training pipelines, evaluation harnesses and documentation transfer to you. There is no proprietary runtime, no per-seat licence and no obligation to retain us after handover.

How long does an AI software development project take in practice?+

Two to four weeks for a data readiness and feasibility assessment, then typically eight to sixteen weeks to a first production deployment. Anything promising a production AI system in two weeks is a demo, and demos do not survive contact with real data.

How does this comply with UK GDPR and sector regulation?+

Every delivery includes a model card, data lineage, an evaluation report against a held-out sample and a monitoring plan. These are sized for UK GDPR, and for FCA, MHRA or other sector expectations where they apply, and for EU AI Act obligations where clients operate across both jurisdictions.

Do you work with in-house engineering teams?+

Usually, yes. The default model is joint delivery with your engineers embedded, because a system nobody internal understands is a liability regardless of its accuracy. Handover includes runbooks, retraining procedures and paired operation until your team is comfortable.
